On the Flip Side

Thanks everyone for your comments and advice on my last post! I really didn't expect it and I learned a couple of things. Firstly, it is okay to feel overwhelmed as a new mom and is probably, actually, expected. Secondly, that many of you genuinely enjoy my rumblings which boosted my spirits since I've felt as if I haven't had anything exciting to post for a while. It's great to express yourself honestly and have such positive feedback. You guys rock and I will share some more photos of Emily, too!

I also am trying to have a positive attitude despite the major adjustments to full time work and a stuffy, sniffling baby with me in a house alone while my husband is at hunting camp all weekend. Trust me, it's not always easy to be positive, hence my last post. But I'm doing my best to not dwell on the crap of life. There's plenty of good things to turn my attention to if I pay attention.

Oh Jen! (((HUGS!)))

It is so, so hard. Being a parent is way more than just a full-time job! It's hard to balance break time with work time; and really, the work day doesn't stop for either of you until the baby's down for the night.

It's an intense, foggy first few months. I'm sure you already know this, but don't underestimate the power of the hormone changes you're going through and will continue to go through as your body returns to normal. It can take months to get back to feeling like yourself.

In the meantime, like everyone else said, I hope you don't feel like you have to force yourself to blog and make your blog "work". I've been terrible about blogging lately myself because of our newest addition. I think we all go through slower periods when babies make it difficult. With my youngest, I blogged in the middle of the night when feeding him and getting him back to sleep. It was the only quiet time. :)

Love the idea of simply posting pictures, with whatever milestones you both are reaching.

And don't forget to take a step outside by yourself sometimes and breathe some fresh air. :)

Hang in there!!

Hi Jen,
Have been following your blog now for a few months and enjoy so much checking in to see how you and sweet Emily are doing. I understand that life feels like a complete blur now - I remember those days of being so tired I went on auto-pilot! But, my 'baby' just turned 19 years old and is away from home in first year university - and honestly, it just seems like yesterday when he was as small as Emily. Bottom line - they are only little once - and the time flies so quickly - take every moment you can to truly 'be' with Emily. All the other stuff in life pales in comparison. Although I too, would be sad to not be reading your blog each day - you and Emily and your time together comes first!

Now - onto something else - I want to say a HUGE Thank-you to you!!! Why? Because I have absolutely loved reading your 'Sweets of the Week' posts. What an awesome idea! They have helped remind me to be truly awake and aware of all the wonderful blessings (big and tiny) in my life and my days. I think of you often now - as I mentally collect my own 'sweets' throughout the day!

Take care, Jen - and I hope you and Emily curl up and enjoy the weekend together! Remember to rest when Emily rests (believe me, there are times when you will need the quiet time more than she will!) Hang in there!!

I just seen yesterdays post and everyone is right, being a parent is tough! I hope you keep blogging, so long as it's still fun for you, I like reading your ramblings, they are beautiful thoughts from a beautiful person.

Enjoy the weekend with Emily, maybe a Mommy & Baby movie marathon! All snuggled up on the couch with a blanket, great movie, some popcorn and a bottle. lol
