Emily is still not fond of "Tummy Time". She'd rather do anything else. So, when I force her little but to strengthen her back and neck muscles she protests quite a bit. But, she always has company. Every time she gets unhappy Sutton, our black lab, comes in and lays right next to her.
Lord help my aching heart. He's so concerned and will look at me like I need to rescue her from her plight immediately. And until I swoop in and declare Tummy Time is over he will show unwavering solidarity and stay by her side.
I could not ask for a better dog.

Oh my goodness - this makes me melt!!! LOVE this!
So Sweet! It looks like he has picked a favorite.
As far as I'm concerned, there is no better dog to be around children. I speak from first hand experience.
I love the way they take on the protection of 'their' babies... mine used to stay close, let you say hello, but NEVER let someone else touch my girls... you had to be part of the 'pack' to do that! But Emily is most certainly growing...
Aww, that almost made me tear up. What a sweet puppy.
Awww, I have to say that black labs (actually any sort of retriever really - blacks, yellows, goldens, chocolates) are super good with kids. They are really patient and loving and, like your dog, very protective of the babies. I grew up with black labs and, if I had more time, I would totally get one now (but I don't so I won't). Interestingly enough, my cat, Shadow (bless her, she's ten this year), is the protective one around here. She cuddles when there are tears and will try to get our attention if she thinks something is up...
Wonderful! And Emily is super cute!
