A Taste of Vermont

Seeing how so many of you liked the photos of the sugar shack and many of you have longed to visit one, or even taste real Vermont syrup, I decided to offer something to those of you who live in far off places removed from sugaring season.  Places that never see snow or, if they do, are already blooming with spring flowers.

Comment below telling me what is their favorite thing to put Maple Syrup on!

One person who comments will randomly be chosen to receive eight ounces of pure, golden Vermont Maple Syrup and a copy of The Official Vermont Maple Cookbook!  So, if you don't want to drink it straight from the jug and aren't in the mood for pancakes you'll have plenty of other ideas.

Entries accepted between now and Sunday!  The winner will be announced Sunday Morning.

If maple just isn't your thing or you are from a state that has its own claim to producing the best syrup ever then you should head on over to my Review Page and enter for your chance to win a $100 visa gift card if you haven't already!

I am totally pining for Vermont right now! I don't care if it is still cold or snowy...

I suppose I am rather a traditionalist when it comes to maple syrup. Other than pancakes the best thing I have made with it is granola...

It's a toss up between oatmeal and sausage patties that I usually eat with pancakes. Something about the sweet and savory together rocks.

Very common answer I'm sure, ha, but (gluten free) belgian waffles, with strawberries. Yum!!

Oh sweet Jesus, I would love some homemade blueberry Belgian waffles, piping hot with butter and syrup. with a side of extra crispy bacon and a HUGE glass of milk. Ive never had real maple syrup, so Im interested in the differences between that and Mrs. Butterworth

I love to put maple strup on clean snow! :) But pancakes are always good, too! I use maple syrup to sweeten my healthy sweet potato muffins...http://domesticdoins.blogspot.com/2011/02/whole-wheat-sweet-potato-muffins.html

Straight from the bottle!

Actually, I don't think I've ever had real maple syrup. I wonder how it compares to sorghum syrup, which is excellent on biscuits.

I love it on french toast casserole and sausage.

Homemade waffles!!.

Vermont maple syrup is the BEST. I used to get it all the time when I lived there. Out here in the great southwest...not even sure they know what it is.

Sugar on snow!! We used to go to a sugar house in Western Mass on the Mohawk Trail and have sugar on snow, with sour pickles. For those who don't know about sugar on snow - we would be given a tin pie plate filled with packed clean snow, and a carafe of hot maple syrup. We would pour dollops of the syrup on the snow, and it would harden up enough to pick it up with a fork. wow wow wow! The pickles were to help cut the sweet a bit so we could keep eating the maple syrup.

OH and maple syrup on ice cream. Very good on maple walnut ice cream.

Real maple syrup is a must! Covering pancakes, sausage, waffles, and crisp bacon is my favorite! For all of you who have never tried the real stuff, once you do you will never buy the fake again!! :)

I love putting real maple syrup on top of waffles with vanilla frozen yogurt....something about the vanilla and the maple syrup tastes heavenly! I also love it on sausage links....and pancakes...but I have to say that waffles a la mode with maple syrup is my favorite way.

It's a toss up between sausage patties and brushed on sliced pineapple then grilled (the pineapple).

French toast, pancakes, waffles. I love syrup on pretty much anything! :) I remember when I was young, my uncle would make us a treat of peanut butter on toast slathered with syrup.

I am not sure if I have ever had real maple syrup. I'm thinking no. I don't like the stuff you buy at the store. Growing up, my mom always made syrup and that was delicous but I have a feeling it was more warm sugar water with vinalla flavoring, so I'm pretty sure that doesn't make maple syrup haha. I'm from Washington state and though we have a lot of trees, I have never heard of anytone making syrup. I would love to try some on some of the suggestions above! :)

Waffles... I like to fill each little well, and then let it sit until the waffle has soaked up the syrup and it kind of crunchy. Yum!

Waffles or cinnamon bun pancakes! Live in the south so I can't imagine still having standing snow and tapping maple syrup...

Just pancakes/waffles - I like it simple. :)

My Mom put liked it on vanilla ice cream, with pecans.
I am proud to say I was born in Vermont, but I have not lived there for many moons.

That's a tough one. It's a toss-up between french toast and hot oatmeal.

Maple syrup goes great over maply candy. I have been to Vermont several times and seen the sugaring process. Here in rural TN we make moonshine.
