Making a Difference

Firstly, I want to thank all the forty three people who commented yesterday on my post.  Secondly, I want to state my surprise that after receiving over 400 views yesterday only 10% of people commented.  And since 43 comments would equal only $4.30 in a donation I decided to change my donation from 10 cents to a dollar for every comment.  That way each person who took the time to actually comment effort will be worth ten times more.

And I didn't forget about drawing two random commenters for their choice of a Help Japan Poster or Salvation Army T-Shirt (proceeds of which benefit Japan).  If you are drawn and do not want the shirt or poster I will make an additional donation of their value to the Red Cross.

The two randomly selected winners are:

Five Tomatoes   and   KrisinVT

Please email me at vtcabinfever(at)hotmail(dot)com by 8am Thursday March 17 to claim your prize!

Thank you again to everyone who commented and consider making a donation yourself.

Its good KARMA.

Across the ocean the troubles may lie, but it doesn't mean we can't stand by their side.

I find it unfathomable how much work there is involved. Fortunately, the Japanese are very prepared for such an occasion, but I'm sure it's taking its toll on the emergency workers over there. Raging fires, trapped people, and now with a nuclear crisis looming over their heads, these services are stretched thin. Let us hope they can quickly contain the problems, and return to a stable life.

(I am sorry I haven't read your blog in a few days, and I did not see your last post until today.)

Sorry I missed your post yesterday. The crisis in Japan is so scary, especially now with the nuclear reactors threatening to leak/explode. How heartbreaking. I've been trying to figure out how to address this with my kids. I just want to protect them from all the bad things like this in the world, but I can't.

Thanks for increasing your donation - and you can add the value of my prize to the donation too! I appreciate you doing this. :)

Thats so kind of you to donate for every comment that you got yesterday.

I wish I could donate something, but alas the mortgage, utilities etc. take all our extra. I always feel guilty about not being able to contribute to these causes (like you said 'its good karma'). If only my husband wasn't disabled and I didn't have to pay out of pockent for the therapies for my son who has autism....

I love the quote you used with the photo in this post. It's too bad that you had that many visitors but only 43 comments.

That's okay if some of you missed the post, another reason for deciding to increase my donation. I figured many of you were there in "spirit" even if you couldn't comment.

And Rachel, I actually just thought up that quote in a rare moment of writer's genius to wrap up the post and love it!

I love the quote too, Jen. It's great and perfect for this occasion.
Although I've never done anything as important as making a donation for each comment, AND my blog is fairly new, I'm surprised at the low number of comments on my blog compared to the number of views.
Thanks for increasing your donation!

Ah, I'm so sad I missed it yesterday, too. My nephew was being born! And I'm disappointed that only 10% would comment- it's not like THEY had pay! Sheesh.

So I feel like a donkey's hind end! I read your post thinking you were wanting anonymous posters to post. I thought it was odd. It turns out that {I} am odd, and it's official... I really do need to get my eyes checked! Thank you for what you are doing!!
