Happy Birthday... Now Get Some New Pants

Today is my birthday.

My 26th to be exact.

Does that mean I now fall into the age group classified as "late twenties"? or is "mid-twenties" still acceptable?

To be honest I don't really care.  I actually haven't even been thinking about my birthday at all this year.  Until a few days ago I forgot it actually was my birthday this week.  Frankly, I've got a whole lot of other stuff on my mind.

Like fitting into my EMS pants.

It's become a problem...

No really... a big problem.  A big belly problem to be exact.

I never thought that 13 weeks I'd already be struggling with my pants and seriously contemplating shopping for maternity clothes.  In my mind that's something reserved for women approaching their third trimester, not barely entering their second.  During my last shift (less than a week ago) I had a very rude and uncomfortable awakening... my time in these pants were limited.  Yikes. If you aren't familiar with EMS pants they sit rather high on the hips and come across right around your belly button, the exact widest part of a pregnant woman.  So that means they are the first article of clothing you "grow out of".

Five days later and now I cannot even begin to fasten my pants.  Thank God for some of you who suggested a product to me that I promptly ordered on a hunch that it would come in handy very soon and thank God I listen to my hunches.  My hunches are good to me.  I said hunches not haunches.

Ta-Da!  No I am not wearing maternity EMS pants (they don't make those, remember?).  That's a Bella-Band across my stomach and let me tell you it is the most comfortable and amazing invention on Earth.

Why?

Because, it is a little tube of nylon/spandex that you wear right over your pants.  It folds to the height you need and stays in place, completely.  I can attest for it after wearing it to work all shift long.  Yes, I am wearing my regular EMS pants that I cannot button anymore.  Yes, that means I am walking around with my pants unzipped.  Yes, I am aware of how unclassy that sounds.  But you know what, when you are pregnant you take comfort over class, even this early in the game.

See, don't I look professional? (and tired)  Unzipped pants and all.

Oh, and in case you were wondering... just what am I doing for my birthday this year??

Well, I am working a 24 hour shift on the ambulance.  I wasn't kidding when I said I really forgot it was my birthday... especially when it came to putting in my availability for shifts this month.

Happy Birthday!! I was one month shy of my 27th birthday when I had my first baby. She is 20 now. :) Time flies!! Wish I would've had one of those belly bands five years ago when I was pregnant!

Happy Birthday, so glad the belly band is working for you! And I'm glad you found it in a blue, it looks great with those pants. Most people will just think you have a long undershirt on if they see it!

Happy Birthday! And I would still say you are in your mid-twenties....you haven't quite reached the late twenties yet...you can reserve that for the 28 and 29 year olds.

Happy birthday! The belly band looks great!

Oh- funny story. So I was at school the other day, during lunch, and walking into the teacher's lounge when I saw a very pregnant 4th grade teacher walking down the hall, yanking up her belly band as she walked. So so funny.

Happy Birthday! You look so good!

And yes, I plan on saying "mid-twenties" until I'm 29. The thought of 30 creeping up just hurts too bad! :)

Happy Birthday Jen! I would put you in your mid-twenties for sure. You look adorable wearing your bella-band! My daughter told me she wore them for months before buying maternity clothes.

Have a great birthday! Have you checked Galls or Cabela's for pants? They might be slightly different, but close.

Happy Birthday! I, too, turned 26 during my first pregnancy...almost 9 *gulp* years ago! Unfortunately, I grew my babies out of my bum, hips and thighs into the second trimester, so it wasn't the buttoning/zipping that was the issue...it was getting the dang pants up to begin with!

Happy birthday. Yes you are still in your mid twenties. I had a really bad time with 26.probably because there was a song out at the time that said older women make beautiful lovers. I know it is a great idea, but come on everyone was calling me an older woman.
The bella-band looks great. Comfort is everything.

Happy Birthday Jen!!!! 24 hours in the ambulance though? Yikes!

For goodness sakes go buy yourself some maternity pants! I had to at that stage also. I didn't want to give in but once I did they were SO much more comfortable. The scary part is when you actually outgrown them! LOL!

Happy Birthday Jen! May this coming year be the best one yet! You are the same age as my son (which I know is hard to figure out since I am only 24.)
Hope your day was wonderful!

Happy Birthday!

I'm 18 weeks and already in the full panel maternity pants. I could go with my regular fat pants, but they just aren't comfortable. And it's not because I've gained weight. I swear. Just a big belly! I'm glad the belly band works for you. I never liked mine. Something about my body shape meant it never stayed in place, and it creeped me out to walk around with my pants unzipped LOL!

Like you, I was an early out-of-my-pants pregnant momma. Don't know why, but it just happens to some of us. Elvis's wife, Priscilla, never wore maternity pants and only put on eight pounds. (that still scares me, for some reason) Doesn't seem possible, or safe! You're looking great. Wish we'd had those belly bands, back then, too. Take care of yourself and get some rest. 26 is getting on the dark side of 20 and, next thing you know, you'll be picking out colleges...

You have such a cute baby belly!! Happy Birthday!!

Just a little advice, stretching skin can itch very badly, so you might want to get some extra lotion and have it stashed everywhere, for just in case episodes of itching.

Happy belated birthday!! And I love the belly

Hope you had an awesome Birthday!
I love it when people come up with great ideas like that and make people's lives easier. :)

I'd go with mid 20's, but I'll be 30 in a couple weeks and it just doesn't phase me a bit, never thought about being "late 20's".
