14 Weeks

I am officially in my second trimester.  At fourteen weeks my baby is now the size of  a lemon.  It is so much more human that a piece of fruit, obviously, but perhaps even more human than many of you would ever imagine.  Reaching this pregnancy land mark has me thinking about a very intense and life altering experience I had last year during my OB clinical rotation.  Some of you may remember that experience, because I wrote about it on here.

Lets just say that this week I can't think about the baby inside me without thinking of the another, who's hand I held.   I can't think of the happiness and hormones pumping through my blood without thinking of the mother, silently crying and barricaded in her hospital room.
A baby's hand just like my baby's, only this little hand would never reach for it's mothers.
That's what I will be thinking of this week....

I just went back and read that post. How horrible, especially for that poor mother. It's amazing how quickly that little ball of cells multiplies into a real human being. How difficult for you to not to think of that experience now, and your own little one. Along with picturing those littel babies, it will all become even more real in the next few weeks when you feel a "little butterfly" in your stomach, if you haven't all ready. Bringing a new life into the world is so incredible. It truly is a miracle!

I'm giving you the thumbs up for your baby lemon, but don't want to go read that article again. So sad.........

Good luck to you and baby lemon. I just read your old post. How indescribably sad. I can't imagine experiencing that at work. I had to stop watching any birthing/baby shows on tv when I was pregnant. With hormones already raging, it's not hard for our imaginations to get the best of us and make us a bit paranoid. You and baby lemon will be perfectly fine ;)

Beautiful story from last year! I'm a new reader so I hadn't seen it. Makes you wonder where those lizard-like textbook photos come from . . .

I heard a discussion recently that got me thinking, why do we say "we're going to have a baby" when we're pregnant? It seems to me that "we have a baby", we just can't see him yet.

I just heard from a dear friend who's been trying for years to get pregnant that she is, and her news was also that her baby is lemon-sized! Congratulations to the proud mothers of baby lemons. :)

I remember that post. It must be hard not to think about. Don't fret...you and your little lemon will be just fine! Can't wait to find out if it's gonna be a boy or girl! :)
